Analyze the importance of surface roughness of high-precision cold drawn tubes

When manufacturing high-precision cold-drawn pipes, surface roughness is a key quality indicator, which directly affects the sealing performance, corrosion resistance and convenience of subsequent processing of the pipe. Surface roughness is usually expressed in terms of Ra value (average roughness), in microns (μm).
The surface roughness requirements of high-precision cold drawn tubes are very strict, and usually the Ra value needs to be 0.8μm or lower. Such low surface roughness can reduce frictional resistance during fluid flow and improve the transportation efficiency of the pipeline system. At the same time, the smooth surface is not easy to accumulate dirt and microorganisms, which is conducive to maintaining the cleanliness of the inside of the pipeline and extending its service life.
In order to achieve such a low surface roughness, not only high-quality molds and lubricants must be used during the cold drawing process, but also the drawing speed and drawing force must be accurately controlled. In subsequent machining processes, polishing or grinding may be required to further improve the surface quality.
To sum up, the surface roughness of high-precision cold-drawn pipes is an important parameter to measure their processing accuracy and functionality, and is important to ensure the performance of pipes in high-end applications.
